                  Lester Whinna Daughter's Dedication Page
This song and page is dedicated to our Dad, best friend, and the Senior Master Instructor -Slo Ryu Karate Do

We would like to dedicate this song and page to our Dad, Senior Master Instructor, friend, and mentor Hanshi Lester A.Whinna 7th Dan. We think this song by “Point of Grace” explains it all.  Below are the lyrics of the song for you to read along with as it plays.  He is truly our “King Of The World” because he leads by his example, love, devotion and is our best friend too.  Dad we love you with all our heart and are so proud of you! You have achieved so much in life and deal with tremendous adversity in your daily life, and yet you always tell everyone your biggest achievements in life are your two daughters. We want you and the world to know how much we love you for always being there for us and for being you.

This page was a surprise to our Dad and we hope he understands why it is being put on a martial arts site that was designed to honor the greatest martial artist; Commissioner Henry Slomanski. In our hearts we want him to be mentioned with great men because he is our greatest man.  The greatest martial artist in our Dad’s eyes and ours is Soke John B. Burkhardt.  Our Dad never had the honor or pleasure to meet Henry Slomanski or Melvin Sauer personally, but he was trained by one of Slomanski’s top Master Instructors, John B. Burkhardt. We hold Grand Master - Soke John Burkhardt in the highest esteem along with much love and respect because he is part of a lineage of great men in the martial arts who accomplished amazing things never seen in public. The training is behind closed doors. He is truly a great man and martial artist. Our Dad is part of this lineage as a 7th Degree Black Belt - Nana-Dan. He is the Senior Master Instructor, and was bestowed on him the honorable Japanese title of Hanshi. So, it goes without mention that he too is a great man of many accomplishments, not counting being an airplane pilot and having a Coast Guard Captain's license. We believe if Soke Burkhardt promoted our Dad to the highest ranked black belt ever issued in 47 plus years, he thinks our Dad is pretty special too. We agree Soke! We felt this song was very representative of our feelings, love, and the respect and we hope you enjoy it Dad.

Dad we love you, and are so proud to be your daughters!  You deal with so much in daily life, yet you are always there for us no matter what we need.

                                                                                                                                                                       Love Daneen & Alyssa
POINT OF GRACE - KING OF THE WORLD
                  Lyrics:

Spinning around of the tops of his feet
smile of the angels can not be so sweet
wide blue eyes and piggy tail swirls
                  she’s her daddy's girl
cause he knows the jokes that always make her laugh
takes her for ice cream instead of her math
at the end of the day by the light of the moon
they turn up the music in their living room
                  and she yells

dance me, dance me around till my feet don’t ever touch down there’s nothing better than being your girl and if i am your princess then daddy you are the king of the world

its funny how life moves in circles of time to think not so long ago that face was mine houses get smaller we take different names but some things in life stay the same

dance me, dance me around till my feet don’t ever touch down there’s nothing better than being your girl and if i am your princess than daddy you are the king of the world

some day she’ll go off and find a life of her own and marry a good man and make a happy home until she comes back and sees with those same eyes what time can not disguise she walks through the door with that look on her face cause daddy's brown hair has all turned to gray they talk for hours they cry and they laugh watching old movies and thinking back just as she turns to go she says hey dad how bout one for the road

dance me, dance me around till my feet don't ever touch down

dance me, dance me around till my feet don’t ever touch down cause there’s nothing better than being your girl oh there’s nothing better than being your girl and if i am your princess than daddy you are the king of the world

                  king of the world

spinning around on the tops of his feet smiles of the angels could not be so sweet
